The Swedish Animal Welfare Ordinance and the regulations of relevant public agencies contain more detailed provisions on the implementation of the Swedish Animal Welfare Act.
The Ordinance presents more detailed descriptions concerning the design of animal accommodations and how different types of animals should be kept. For instance, it specifies that poultry should have access to a nest, perch, and grit and addresses the need of fox to dig, the types of meat-producing animals that should be kept in pastures, and that pigs should not be confined.
